Dr. Butler grew up in Central Wisconsin and has deep family ties to Wausau. The procedures he finds most rewarding are breast augmentation, breast reduction and abdominoplasty. “It’s just so wonderful to see the improvement in the self-esteem of my patients after a procedure. It’s very rewarding to know that I’ve made a difference in their lives,” he says of his work.
In practice in Wausau since 1988, Dr. Butler is a Board Certified Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon. He was drawn to plastic surgery as a specialty because of the vast variety of patients it allows him to see and the satisfaction that reconstructive surgery provides.
Dr. Butler trained at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals in Madison. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a position that requires devotion to surgical practice and uncompromising adherence to the ethical standards of the College. Fellows must have graduated from a medical school accepted by the College, be certified by the American Board of Medical Specialty, hold an unrestricted medical license to practice, and be a specialist in surgery. Dr. Butler is also a member of the American Society of Bariatric Plastic Surgeons.
Dr. Butler’s areas of special interest include skin reduction after weight loss, tummy tuck and breast surgery. He has spoken frequently to groups about contouring procedures after massive weight loss. He has attended many conferences on breast reconstruction, and finds it especially rewarding to be able to offer reconstruction to breast cancer patients.
During his spare time, Dr. Butler’s interests include cooking, entertaining, grilling and wine.
